About Your Therapist

Ashley Miles

Hey there! I'm here to help you unlock your full potential through evidence-based knowledge and real-world experience.

I am a Calgary-based therapist and Behavioural Sleep Medicine specialist. I am certified in CBT-I, ACT for Insomnia, and CBT for Nightmares, and have completed all clinical hours and examinations toward the Diplomate in Behavioural Sleep Medicine (DBSM). I serve adults, older adults and teens in Calgary and virtually across Canada.

My journey has been anything but ordinary – I've gone from deploying to Latvia and training military personnel to working with athletes from the NHL, NFL, MLB, and NASCAR, and now I'm ready to help you transform your mindset and well-being.

What makes me a bit different? I specialize in psychology, sleep and the nervous system. I've seen firsthand the interplay between psychology and sleep and how they can completely change someone's game – whether that's on the field, in the boardroom, or just in everyday life. But here's the thing I've learned: rest isn't the opposite of success, it's the foundation of it. In our hustle culture, we've forgotten that strategic rest and recovery are actually performance strategies, not signs of weakness.

My Approach

I work with both top-down approaches (mind-led strategies and cognitive work) and bottom-up approaches (body-led interventions like nervous system regulation and modalities like internal family systems) because lasting change happens when we meet in the middle. You can't outthink everything, and there's a beautiful balance between honouring both your mind and your body in this process.

I combine evidence-based therapies, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), with a healthy dose of real-world practicality. For sleep-related concerns, I utilize CBT for Insomnia and ACT for Insomnia.

Having worked with everyone from teens struggling with anxiety and depression, to high-level executives dealing with burnout, to professional athletes optimizing their mental game, I know that generic plans don't work. That's why I tailor everything to fit your unique lifestyle and goals.

Whether you're here for performance enhancement, mental health support, relationship issues, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck and overwhelmed, I'm committed to creating a supportive, judgment-free space where we can work together to achieve lasting change. At the end of the day, you're a human being first, not a productivity machine, and you deserve care, compassion, and strategies that honour your whole self.

You can think of me as your personal strategist who knows a fair amount about sleep science and believes that you already have everything you need inside you; sometimes, we just need to clear the path to access it.

Research + Publications

My clinical work is grounded in active research in Behavioural Sleep Medicine and psychology. A co-authored paper was accepted in Nature and Science of Sleep (2026), and another manuscript is currently under review:

"Orthometria: Metric Fixation in Digital Health and a Framework for Responsible Use in High Performance Sport"

"Investigating the relationship between sleep quality and night eating syndrome in overweight Iranian medical students"

Ashley is also in the process of applying for a PhD in sleep psychology, with research interests in insomnia and recovery, psychometric measurement, ACT-based interventions and HRV biofeedback.

Between Sessions...

You'll find me hanging out with my two French bulldogs (they're basically my unpaid therapy assistants), at the gym, doing sleep research, on an endless quest to find the best matcha spots, hiking through the Rockies (nothing beats mountain therapy), or saying yes to every travel plan.
